It is said that in today's modern age girls can walk shoulder to shoulder with boys.
But is that exactly the case? Are
girls in our country capable enough to measure them with boys now? We all know
and understand the answer better.
Violence and crime against women is
a major downside across the world. It affects women of all races, ethnic
groups, classes, and nationalities. it is a severe problem for an individual
girl and a significant problem for all socio-economic and academic classes. It
cuts across cultural and spiritual barriers, clogging the right of girls to
participate absolutely in society. Violence against women changes its type of
forms, somewhere it is domestic abuse somewhere it is rape to kid marriages,
and feminine circumcision. All of them are violations of the foremost basic
Human Rights and shame on humanity.
Because even today, when a girl
thinks of going out on a night alone, she is afraid.
She is afraid when a woman has to go
into a huge crowd in broad daylight.
The girl is afraid of the
Barbarian who take advantage of the lone
girl in the night to do inhuman work with her,
Women are a special part of our society which is as important as any other person.
In India, women are called the form
of Goddess Durga,
A woman is a mother, a woman is a
daughter, a woman is a sister, and a woman plays many roles in her life.
But in today's world, it is as if
women's s lives are no longer important, and now it is as if women are not safe
outside the house but even indoors.
Looking at the official figures, 70
percent of women are charged with a crime by one of their acquaintances.
It is a very shameful and inhuman
crime, and in today's new age, our daughters-in-law and daughters are not safe.
It is the failure of our society
that some people in our society do not respect women and even commit heinous
crimes like rape against them.
The woman is afraid of the poor in
the crowd who touch the woman wrongly under the guise of a crowd.
What kind of freedom is this?
Looking at the recent national crime
records bureau's 2019 admonition, today there is a rape every 16 minutes in
India And only 87 rape crimes are reported only.
NCRB says crime against women increased 7.3 percent
from 2018 to 2019.
And sadly, it takes 7 years for the
victim to get a fixed sentence in the case of Nirbhaya, as we saw.
And it is seen every day that those
whom we have sent to the Parliament of India for the safety of ourselves and
our daughters-in-law and daughters often do not respect women themselves. No
matter which political party he belongs to, But objectionable comments for
women are often seen.
Those who are in power commit
heinous crimes like rape, it seems as if a thief has been made to guard the
safe.
Our
understanding is in dire need of a society with strict laws.
We have to teach our daughters and
sons from an early age about sexual knowledge, and how to respect the girls in
the other house.
Learn self-defense
Taking a self-defense class
is one of the best things a woman should do. It will not only give a girl a new
skill but she can defend herself from rapists and criminals, it'll also give
you exercise and make you stronger. Even if you're never placed in a dangerous
situation, those lessons will pay off and make you more confident.
Carry items that
will help
Women carry a huge pocketbook filled
with useless things, and you can carry some useful gadgets to counter violence
Buy pepper spray it is a small bottle of spray just spray it to the face mainly
the eyes of the attacker.
Always be alert
When you're home alone and hear a
knock on the door, don't open the door without looking to see who's on the
other side. You always need to be on alert, because one wrong move could end in
injury. Just think before you act and you should be fine.
Don’t fall into traps
Don’t believe everyone blindly, try
to know the person and his/her background take your time before trusting
whether it is a girl or boy.
Don’t help blindly
A lot of criminals use helpless
women as a trap. If someone asks you to help them look for their location
because it could be a trick to lure you to a certain location Even though you
want to help, you have to realize that the person in need may not be who they
claim to be.
KNOW YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS
Right to no
arrest
a woman cannot be arrested after sunset and before
sunrise. Even If a female constable threatens you by accompanying the officers,
you have the legal right to ask them to come in the morning. Because legally
the police can’t arrest a woman at night But In case the woman has committed a
serious crime, the police require to get it in writing from the magistrate
explaining why the arrest is necessary during the night.
Right to Zero
FIR
a rape victim can register her
police complaint from any police station under the Zero FIR ruling by the Supreme
Court. “Sometimes, the police station under which the incident occurs refuses
to register the victim’s complaint to keep clear of responsibility and tries
sending the victim to another police station. In such cases, she has the right
to lodge an FIR at any police station in the city under the Zero FIR ruling.
The senior officer will then direct the SHO of the concerned police station to
lodge the FIR,”
Right to free
aid
When a woman goes to the police station without a lawyer
she is either quoted wrong, ignored, or humiliated for her statements. She
should be aware of the fact that she has a right to get legal aid and that she
should demand it. “According to a Delhi High Court ruling, whenever a rape is
reported, the senior house officer has to bring this to the notice of the Delhi
Legal Services Authority. The legal body then arranges for a lawyer for the
victim,”
Here are things women
should keep in mind.
1. When someone is walking closely behind us on the street, we stop to pretend to make a phone call or otherwise occupy ourselves to allow them to pass in front of us. and scope out potential safe havens if someone appears to be following us. Try to change direction if it’s a car to be following us while we’re walking on foot.
2. Stay in well-lit areas at night even if it means taking a longer route.
3. Take alternative routes to avoid areas we know we are likely to face street harassment.
4. Cross the street when we see men who look like they might be drunk. Late at night, cross to the other side of the street when anyone is walking towards us.
5. Avoid using stairwells or elevators occupied by only one other person who is a stranger.
6. Text or send your live location someone you know before going out for a run or on a date with a stranger.
7. Avoid sleeping naked when any guest is staying at your place no matter its another room
8. Make sure we’re not the only woman on the subway car or bus.
9. Check our mirrors frequently while driving, noting characteristics and license plate numbers of cars trailing close behind.
10. Don’t park your vehicle in a dark place.
11. Making sure we have enough cell phone battery life before leaving one location to last until we get to another
12. Driving in a circle if we sense we might be followed.
Conclusion
While on one hand, it is essential to
develop strict laws. Laws are not the only solution to this issue. The
effectiveness of these laws depends on women’s awareness and their ability to
call upon them if needed.
Teach every gender to respect
